What Time Is It

The Fatal Disease!

"For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

One definition of Disease is "an abnormal condition of the body or mind that causes discomfort or dysfunction". We were all born with a 100% fatal disease. Sometimes it is referred to as life because it is a part of us as long as we live in this life. Another name for this disease is sin. But, this sinful life is not the life we were originally created for. The bible helps us understand this in Proverbs 14:12 "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.". The "death" in this verse is an eternal death. We are born with a sinful nature in our lives. No matter how much we try to avoid it, we tend to gravitate to sin like bees to sugar water. The bible says all of us are born with this condition. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;".

The good news is that there is a prescribed treatment for this 100% fatal disease. It is a relationship with God. Here in this life, a personal relationship with God puts the disease of sin in remission. We still have it and sometimes it can still flare up in our lives. But, we can often avoid sin and it’s consequences in our lives.

After this life we pass into the next life (eternity). When we get to heaven our sin disease is cured, erased, finished. If we refuse the prescribed course of treatment in this life, then the disease becomes terminal and permanent in an eternal death.
